| I got this Fiero on November 2, 2001 in California. This one has the TH125C automatic transmission with a 2.8L V-6 engine. (Actually, it has NO engine! The previous owner removed the engine because it overheated!! -- one look at the water pump and I knew why!) This is a very low mileage car ! | |||

OK, up on the lift, let's see what I have to do to this one..........oh my gosh!!! The engine is missing!!! (and I thought that was an ignition problem -- nope, it's plain flat gone!!!)
| Like
I said, the engine is missing so I just removed the cradle...(it's easier
to put an engine on it this way!)
I added the Eibach lowering springs while I had the cradle out too..... |

Here
is the 3.4 with the WCF headers mounted on the cradle almost ready to go
back in the car...
I decided to use the 3.4L engine I had as it was already prepped and ready....... this one has larger 3.4 fuel injectors and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on it. |
||
| Now, the engine is in the car -- I just need to hook everything back up (sounds easy, huh?) and off I go.... |

| This car was in good shape when I got it in spite of the fact that it had been sitting in a body shop for three years! | |||

The interior was extremely clean. I did put in a new headliner - the original was just showing signs of coming apart. I also modified the windows so that they roll all the way down and I rewired them for full time power windows (now I don't have to turn the key on to open or close the window!) I just had to install that Delco am/fm/cd unit with the stock subwoofer too! Let's see, what else did I do?? Oh yes, I installed a rear view mirror with built in courtesy lamps and added the console tray with light switches..... oh yes, and I added seats from an '85 with two 3 1/2" speakers in each headrest. Doesn't that sound good? ....... What? Huh? (wait, let me turn the CD down............)
| Well............. this didn't turn out as planned!! After getting the engine in the car it fired right up!! Sounded good and seemed to run well until................ uh oh!! What's that white smoke coming from the exhaust?? -- pulled the oil cap and discovered the coolant mixed with the oil! That means only one of two things - either a cracked head or a blown head gasket! Sooooooo, I guess I'll replace the heads tomorrow. It's better that this happened in the shop rather than out on the road though, right? | |||
| I replaced the head gaskets, replaced the heads, adjusted the valve lash and checked the compression -- looks good to me - time to finish it up! |

There it is -- Bahama Blue!! -- I hooked up all of the sensors and set the distributor (and custom fit the plug wires while I was at it!) and hit the starter button -- Houston, we have ignition!!
| I still have a lot of cleaning to do on this car -- I've just been hitting spots as I go along -- I'll finish the minor things as I have time - (what's time???) | ![]() |
||
| Tomorrow I can install the rear sway bar and take it in for an alignment -- then register the car and we can go drivin'!!! | |||
Now it's official!! |
|||
| Driving this car is fun!! It runs like a scared cat!!! It hugs the road (Thanks to Eibach for the springs and to Herb Adams for the sway bar... and of course, running oversized tires on the rear helps too.....) and runs reeeeeeeeal smooth!! | |||
| ok, I just had to try this one -- I changed the "Pontiac" on the rear of the car from red to blue to match the engine... it looks great at night. And just a little different too... |

I have also added a high flow catalytic converter and a "Super-Flo" Muffler (actually a Flowmaster series 40 muffler) (from West Coast Fiero of Marina del Rey, CA - thanks Eric and Chris!!) and a set of custom exhaust tips from Mel & Sons Muffler of San Pablo, CA. I will be changing these to the Cadillac STS type exhaust tips though.
| There you can see the diamond HID headlights I have installed.... (you can't see them? they must be blinding!!) (actually, I haven't taken the picture yet!!) |

I
replaced the stock steering wheel with a ten year old Momo solid wood wheel...
now there is something you don't see every day! - I have brushed
aluminum trim panels from Dashmasters to install too (now, if I can just
find more time........)
Like they say......... time flies........... (who, exactly, are "they" anyway???) |
||
| I replaced the stock "GT" quarter windows with a pair of custom made windows with the "89" Fiero logo... Thanks to Doug Kenney of Fiero Warehouse ! |

Let's see........ what else have I done here.... oh yes, the driving lights! These are hooked to a switch on the dash tray... (hmmmmm, they look just like the headlights - blinding, huh?) There is also a small Pontiac arrowhead logo on the front of the bra.
| I have some work to do on this one too - I have to replace the headers (it turns out that the headers I got from West Coast Fiero cracked - in two places!! -- after close inspection it showed that the welds were not properly welded ... so, I had to remove them and have them re-welded! West Coast Fiero didn't seem to want to take care of this problem unless I removed both headers and the crossover pipe and sent them back so they could "inspect" them - and just how was I supposed to drive the car in the meantime? (so much for guarantees!) so I had to do it on my own.. Other than that, it is in fairly good shape. I do need to replace motor and transmission mounts and bushings and ball joints (just to be on the safe side!!) | |||
| I used the center from a GT horn button to add a GT emblem to the front quarter panel... |
![]() |
||
![]() |
and... a "V6-H.O." emblem on the rear of the ground effects to give a slight hint that this was not the stock 2.8L V-6 engine...
| One other little touch..... the "GT" on the rear fascia. This was originally the "GT" from the "GTO" rear deck emblem of a 1965 Pontiac GTO. The "Custom" came from a Buick (hey....... at least they are both GM cars!!) |

| Here is the interior with the new trim panels installed. These are the "brushed aluminum" panels made by Dashmasters. What a difference!! These look nice and fit well and the installation was very easy. What is not shown in the photo is the trim panel in the back of the dash pocket... I also added a Camaro shift knob and a leather shift boot - it makes it a little easier to remove and insert CD's! I have also added custom door emblems from Oreif (of Pennock's Forum fame!) and new door lock stickers from Rodney Dickman. Those make all the difference in the world - it's the "little things", right? | |||
